brief synopsis of vampire movie

there were three girls having a quiet night in, watching movies, eating popcorn and having a pjs party.

they hear a knock on the door, there friends from the same street want to come and join them. they all enjoy the movies.

then there was a power cut and the friends had no candles or touchs so they was unable to see anything.

suddenly there was a scream fro one of the girls. one of them found a touch near by and turned it on, she also screamed.

one of the three boys they let into the house was a vampire and they dident know because it was dark.

that one boy was sucking blood out of the girls neck and no one had known what to do to save her, however they had discovered that the boy was carrying holy water, so one of the girls grabbed the water and poured it over them both so that they girl could stay human, but it was too late she would of had also become a vampire herself, there was no way that she could go back to leading a normal human life.

that same night there was another power cut and the boy tried to bit another one of the friends, but he had tried to stop himself but it did not happen so the second girls who was bitten had no chose but to get real holy water and pour it over the boy.

the group of friends were still terrified of what happened so they tried to kick the boy out before one of the girls parents came home from work.

watching and analysing

In the film The Let The Right One the i would say that the genre is fantasy and the sub genre is vampires.
The sound that was used in this sequence was non-diagetic sound which means that the actors cant hear the sound but we as the audience can hear the sound. the sound in this sequence makes the audience feel tension and makes the film dramatic about the sequence and makes us want to engage in with the audience. it also makes the audience wonder what the storyline of this film is as there is not dialogue in with the film. the over atosphere of this film is dull and there is not much lighting with in the sequence and also it makes the audience feel suspence because of the way the light is set up and also this gives the audience a creepy feel and they dont know what going to happen and they feel scared, this film can also be considered as a horror movie becaus eof the way the film is set out because of the dull scaring atmosphere. vampires can be represented in different way such as they can scary and that they have teeth so that they can suck the blood out of humans and the humans thoughfore become a vampire as well.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The opening of The Hunger is very different to the opening of Let the right one in. this is because the opening of the film is more dramtic and the soundtrack is more creppy because this films soundtrack was also non diagetic but the sound is more creepy and makes you feel scared because you dont know what the film is about. the soundtrack consists of srechy sounds to give the audience the creepy feel from the film. the lighting in the film is very dark but however there is a bright blue light in the background to give the suspense of the film and also one of the characters is in full black which can suggest that this is a dark, but yet creepy feeling film. there are opposites between humans and vampires such as vampires take blood out of humans so that the vampires can survive so they need blood to survive.

conventions of horror films

Horror films are very similar when talking about the main conventions of horror films. There are different sub genres for horror films which are, slasher thriller and the monster scare. The main sub genres that everyone watches or know are slasher and thriller movie's.
Horror films normally have very similar conventions what make them horror films. One convention of this genre is that there is most of the time a female victim who gets attacked and killed. Another convention is they the killer always hides away his identity such as facial features and what colour their hair etc. This is done so that the audience says in suspense and they keel the story of the film secret. There is sometimes a certain camera angle that horror movie's's contain. Which are point of view shots. These shots in in horror movie's so that we as an audience know what's going on and it is mainly from the killers point of view. Horror films are also mainly know for the use of lighting in the films. For example in most of the films it is a very dark and creepy setting, so that we don't feel comfortable with the certain surrounding of the film. In some horror films there is a camera technique used called hand held camera. Using this technique can help people to understand the position that the characters are in and how theu are feeling.

INT. SCANNER’S POV, CHECKOUT - DAY

Black.

Sugary background music. Small grunts of effort. The squeak

of technology being installed.

MIKE (O.S.)

And don’t say I never give you

anything.

TINA (26) sweet cheerful shop assistant, plants a loud

giggly kiss and -

Light seeps into SCANNER - so much more than a mere reader

of bar-codes. Scanner sees retreating lips and a red

lip-print on his lens. Tina mists it with a spray and wipes

him gently with a cloth.

Scanner’s vision clears. Tina appears above him framed by

Valentine balloons. Scanner’s shutter begins a long sigh -

MIKE (30s) senior assistant, edges into view.

MIKE

You didn’t have to kiss it to turn

it on.

TINA

Worked though didn’t it?

Mike’s footsteps retreat. Tina’s saucy grin turns wistful.

She leans her ample chest forward. Scanner’s shutter bar

sounds a wolf whistle. Tina’s arms rise in surprise.

The shadow of a shopping basket passes over Scanner. Tina

calms and serves up a smile. She runs the Customer’s grocery

items over the lens.

TINA (CONT’D)

Enter your pin in now...Thanks.

MIKE (O.S.)

(via tannoy)

We have a number of Valentine gifts

available in store -

Tina forms an apologetic smile as she passes the receipt and

the card to the customer.

She rests her elbows either side of the Scanner bed, staring

into the middle distance. Her hands appear above Scanner as

if in prayer.

(CONTINUED)

CONTINUED: 2.

A pixellated heart forms on his screen - expands and bursts.

She misses it. Scanner scrolls through an array of codes,

getting faster and faster until -

A bunch of roses, plus price detail, SUPERIMPOSES in front

of his view of Tina. Scanner beeps.

TINA

Whoa. What’s happening?...Mike?

Mike comes into view. Tina points towards the cash register.

TINA (CONT’D)

Look - but there’s no flowers.

MIKE

That a hint?

He holds her gaze for a beat, breaking before real

commitment - to Tina’s slight frustration.

Scanner zooms through codes at lightening speed and selects:

SUPER: A box of chocolates - beep - SUPER: A soppy

Valentine’s day card - beep.

TINA

There, look. How, how are you doing

that?

MIKE

What makes you think it’s me?

Pixillated hearts dance on Scanner’s screen.

Mike peers into Scanner’s lens.

Scanner sends out a huge white smoky flash.

Mike squirms in blinking agony. Tina pulls him to her chest.

TINA

Shit, are you alright?

Red mist clouds Scanner’s screen. Mike sinks his head into

Tina’s embrace with a satisfied smile.

Mike gives Scanner a smug wink and lifts up a pointy finger

- it nears.

A switch clicks off.

Black.

seven and the godfather 19.09.13

I will be analysing the opening sequence of Seven and how the director engages the audience though narrative and character.

In this sequence there is a variety of different ways of showing the narrative of this story. One way in which there is a clear narrative of this story is the way the camera uses close up of the writing on the table. This may be used as a narrative because it tells us a outline of the story and how the story may be structured out in order to tell us a story.  The camera also helps us to understand the narrative because we are able to see what the character sees and what the writing says, this gives us again a clear summary of the story.

Though out the sequence we can tell a clear pattern of a character. We see this by the way the character is presented with the paper on his desk and we can see a bit of his costume, we  see him wearing a long coat which can suggest that he is a detective with the documents on his desk. We have evidence to show that the main character is a detective because of the way the sequence is formed together to show the audience the genre of the film.

I will be analysing the opening sequence of the godfather, how the film engages the audience and narrative.

At the beginning of the sequence we hear a character talking to a different character. This can tell us alot the narrative of the story as it helps us to understand what the story is about and it can also tell us the main narritive of the story. This also helps the audience to understand what the story is about even before getting into the main film.

We also see the character at the beginning of this sequence.  Judging the character by his facial expressions and his body language , it tells us that he might of lost someone because of the way that he cries and the way that he sits in the chair. According to his costume we can see that he may be a middle class man due to the coat that he is wearing and that we know he is a wealthy man who has lost someone close to his.

children of men 12.09.13

I will be analysing the opening sequence of children of men. This movie was realised in 2006 and was a british film.

At the beginning of this sequence we see a blank screen shown with dialogue. we hear the news reported talk about the the recent activities and what has happened within the story. This shows is a form of narration and tells us about the story without us seeing any visual pictures.

We then see a large group of people inside a cafe watching something important on the t.v. This again gives us the indication that something terrible has happened and that people are intreged to find out more about what has happened. The news reporter mentions that the character was the youngest person on the planet. This can suggest that human development is collapsing and that there are not many children around in the area.

In the cafe we see many different facial expressions from the large group of people. an example of this is when the news reported mentions about the death of the youngest person on the planet. Many of the large group of people are shocked to hear the news.

During this sequence a man walks into the cafe showing no sign of interest in what everyone else is watching. An example of this is when the man just walks into the cafe and asks for a coffee, he does however look at the t.v screen to see what everyone was watching he may show a sign of interest.

When the man walks out of the cafe he is followed by the camera. This can show us that he is the main character of the film and that he is more focused on himself then his surrounding areas. We also see that the camera follow around him when he pours in the drink into his coffee. The effect of the camera following him around is that we are able to see what he is doing.

three colours blue danika tankaria 12.09.13

I will be analysing a short opening sequence to the french film Three Colours Blue.

At the beginning of the film there is a short sound sequence This sequence sounds a lot like the moterway and also gives away the surrounding of the area. this gives an effect on the audience as it makes us fell that the motarway is busy. it can also give us a sence of danger or that something might occur later on in the film.

The young girl in this scene looks bored and tired. an example of this is when we see her sitting at the back of the car and looking out. This indicates tht she is either bored or tired accourding to her facial expressoin and body lauguage. We can also tell this becuse of the use of an point of view shot. tis point of view shot is effect because of the use of the lights and how they shine onto her face during this scene.

During the sequence the car pulls over at the side o the motarway. The man exits out of the car and strenches out. This gives us the indication that he might be a family man and that he and possibly the family have gone a long way to go somewhere. this also shows us that he may be tired due to the body langauge that he shows.

We see a close up of the car brake. when we see this car brake the main focus of this is the drip. this can show us that there is a sence of danger that may occur, also in the background you she faintly the girl running. this may also show us that something might happen to the girl and that she might be involed in what might happen later on in the sequence.

We see the car appear from the mist on the motorway. This may give us an indication and a sense of danger as fog is normally hard to see what in front of you in the car. This also goes back to when we see the car brake dripping as these might both be reasons why in which something may happen later on.

The last scene that we see is the car have a crash into the tree. We notice that the car brake drip and the fog has lead to this accident. We see the beach ball roll out of the car. This shows us that the possible family was on their way to may be the beach or somewhere simular.
